The CCS Friends of Music and Art was established to support the fine arts program at Cooperstown Central School. The organization intends to demonstrate a commitment to the philosophy of the CCS Fine Art department, which is based on the principle that every child is an artist/musician. Through personal involvement and financial contribution, the Friends of CCS Music and Art will endeavor to promote both achievement and enlightenment in the arts as a fundamental aspect of education and society.
What We Support
FoMA works closely with music and art teachers at Cooperstown Central School. Every year, we distribute thousands of dollars within our school district to ensure equal access to arts education across the income spectrum and to foster, recognize, and reward student accomplishment in the arts.
Specifically, we provide financial support for:
- – CCS high school musicals
- – Scholarships for students in grades K-12 attending arts and music-related camps and lessons
- – CCS student publications
- – Writing prizes for CCS students
- – Graduation awards
- – Summer music lessons
In addition, FoMA continues to provide every third grader with a recorder and a booklet of music which can be used in the classroom and at home.
Upcoming Meeting Dates
FoMA meets monthly at the Clark Sports Center in the Community Room. Please check our homepage or our Facebook page for information about upcoming meetings. FoMA welcomes and encourages public participation and ideas.
